rkNews.com> The Visionary Activist - Biomimicry: Caroline welcomes the
return of Janine Benyus, natural sciences writer author of "Biomimicry".
Janine's work reminds us that for every toxic insult we humans have imposed
upon our home planet, there is an ingenious reverent collaborative solution
that makes us weep and bark with delight. (e.g., solar cells that mimic
leaves, agriculture that models a prairie, businesses that run like redwood
forests). Let's revel in the vortex of rude empire's economic collapse ,
from which a polite sane cooperative economy arises.

7:00 PM Apex Express - October is Filipino history month! Apex celebrates
API arts and culture this week from a woman's perspective. Join us as we
speak with Filipina writer, Ruby Veridiano-Ching about her upcoming new
book, "Miss Universe", which offers a fresh and distinctly female voice that
demands truth in a world convoluted and distorted by popular media hype. We
also speak with fellow Filipina spoken word artist Aimee Suzara about her
newly released poetry chapbook, "the space between". Finally, we will be
joined live by Balinese dancer and musician, Kompiang Metri-Davies from
Richmond's first Balinese dance and music ensemble, Gadung Kasturi on
keeping traditional culture alive in an urban environment.

1:30 pm Making Contact Live From Main Street Ohio: Will Your Vote Count?

On this edition, we go to Ohio, the scene of election day chaos in 2004.
Long lines, a shortage of voting machines, voter challenges, and unprocessed
registrations led some members of Congress to challenge the validity of the
presidential election.

This time around, Ohio is again a crucial swing state, and it remains to be
seen whether changes in voting laws there and in other states will make the
process better or worse for citizens who want to cast their votes.
Hosted by GRIT TV personality Laura Flanders, produced by The Media
Consortium, and adapted for radio by Making Contact.

2:30 PM Ideas on The Edge - Mike Beevers interviews Andrew J. Bacevich ,a
professor of history and international relations at Boston University. His
new book is "The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism."

7:30 pm- Act One Radio Spinning Into Butter: What happens when conflicting
emotions inhabit the same space? When a new vocabulary is devised to
disguise the same old thoughts? In this barbed satire of political
correctness, Rebecca Gilman's provocative characters spin a web of their
own, revealing the latent racism that may lurk beneath the porcelain veneer
of a liberated conscience. Starring Jordan Baker, Kevin Kilner, and Charles
Kimbrough Written by Rebecca Gilman
