*KFCF TRANSMITTER DAMAGED*

UPDATE:  A storm on Wednesday Dec 5th left the KFCF transmitter site 
without power from 9:30 PM Dec. 4th until 1 PM on the 5th.

A voltage regulator failure on the backup generator put in excess of 350 
volts across the KFCF transmitter. The voltage fried fuses, fuse 
holders, circuit traces on the circuit board that controls the 
transmitter vaporized, and at least one power supply is damaged. 
Currently KFCF is operating at 20 watts (50 watts ERP). KFCF's normal 
power out is 1000 watts (2400 watts ERP). Strength and coverage area of 
the KFCF signal is seriously impaired.  KFCF engineer Rand Stover says 
that if the main power supply is damaged, the manufacturer claims it 
could take up to 6 weeks to obtain a replacement.
