SPECIAL PROGRAMMING UPDATE:=20
CRITICAL UN MEETING FRIDAY 3/7!
Details:
7 AM - noon Pacific -------- Friday 3/7/03
KPFA, KFCF and Pacifica radio will broadcast live the critical UN =
session Friday 3/7, as the UN weapons inspectors present their latest =
findings. Foreign ministers from most of the UN Security Council's 15 =
members, including US Secretary of State Colin Powell, are expected to =
attend. They may discuss/debate the findings in open session immediately =
after the presentation. What positions they take may determine whether =
or not the Bush administration orders an attack on Iraq immediately, or =
decides to wait for a vote in the Security Council the following week.
KPFA's coverage will be anchored by longtime Pacifica national =
broadcaster Larry Bensky. He'll be joined during breaks/intermissions =
with journalists, scholars, and activists who follow the UN =
deliberations closely.
Following the session, the broadcast will present highlights and =
analysis, and then open phone lines for listener comment/reaction =
nationwide.
