[KFCF Friends] Programming Changes at KPFA and KFCF

More KPFA broadcast schedule changes afoot.  Here they are, below.  New
program grid to follow (our website at www.kpfa.org not quite up to date.

PLEASE NOTE (and KFCF listeners, should they be alarmed, need to know this,
too:  none of these changes has been made without tremendous care, planning,
regard for producer/content fatigue or demand, and all these moves have
included collaborative input/feedback from affected programmers as well as
much feedback from KPFA listeners/community/LAB.

A couple of footnotes: in the case where Terre Verde was shortened by l/2
hour, that producer, Pratap Chatterjee, needed the abbreviated time due to
production strain and travel...we hope to get it back to an hour soon.

7 Generations' producer Weyland Southon wants to rotate out and return early
2003 with resuscitated programming and production team.

KPFA is very anxious to keep environmental shows on the air, and need more
programmer support in that area...right now we are running on empty due to
producer drop-out so we are actively looking for more green programming.

BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER

Counterspin --originally Mondays l pm now Fridays 3:30 pm (subject to
pre-emption by local KFCF programming)

Making Contact -- will return to KFCF  Fridays at l:30 pm

Terre Verde -- originally Fridays 1 - 2 pm now Fridays 1 - 1:30 pm

Trial and Tribulation -- originally Sundays 6:30 pm now replaced by
Grassroots Radio (public affairs access prgmg.) 6:30- 7pm

New Dimensions Radio -- originally Wednesdays 2 - 3 pm, now replaced by Guns
and Butter (the economics of politics), airing Wednesdays, 2 - 3 pm. New
Dimensions returns in special broadcast projects with KPFA, at new times
TBA.

7 Generations - originally Wednesdays 1-2 pm replaced by Islam Today (airing
l3 weeks, through December). 7 Generations
returns with new production team in January.

Other recent changes:

Voices of the Middle East - Mondays, l - 2 pm

Earthsongs - Sundays, 5 - 6 pm

KFCF's Sunday Night programming will be moving to 7 to 9 PM.  *JOE FRANK is
moving to 9-l0pm in October.
