KPFA-FM COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT HEARING IN FRESNO

In co-operation with the Fresno Free College Foundation and
KFCF-FM, the KPFA-FM Local Advisory Board's Community Needs 
Assessment Committee will be conducting a hearing on issues
and concerns over the programming at KPFA-FM.

These issues and concerns may include, but are not limited
to, whether or not the programming on KPFA meets social, 
cultural or content concerns of the listening community,
and suggestions on how these issues and concerns may be
better met by changes in programming.  Critical analysis
of present programming is encouraged.

Members of the KFCF staff and volunteers will also be on hand
to take input and information on local programming issues and
concerns outside of the KPFA programming matters.

The meeting in Fresno is scheduled for 1PM to 4PM on Saturday, 
June 16, 2001, at the Sarah E. McCardle Room of the Fresno 
Free Library Main Building at the corner of Mariposa and "O" 
in downtown Fresno.  Access for the disabled is available 
through the main entrance of the library.

The general programming issues of KFPA are in compliance with
its mission of social peace and justice, as well as for the
free expression of differing views, ideals and concerns in 
order to better facilitate communication and cooperation.

These hearings are being conducted in seventeen communities
throughout Northern and Central California, wherever the
KPFA signal is heard, and reach a listenership of nearly
two-thirds of the State of California.

KPFA-FM is the first public radio station licensed in the 
United States, based in Berkeley, California, and is the 
flagship station of the Pacifica Network.  Most of its daily 
programming is re-broadcast by KFCF-FM in Fresno, along with 
local based programming concerning the Central San Joaquin 
Valley area.
