KFCF 88.1 FM - PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Tuesday, September 9, 2008
7:00 AM The Morning Show continues coverage of the California Budget Stand Off with
Assembly member John Laird, who represents the 27th Assembly District, which
includes parts of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Santa Clara Counties, and is Chair of
the State Budget Committee. Followed by John Zogby, author of "The Way We'll Be: The
Zogby Report on The Transformation of the American Dream". IN the second hour a look
at the Shake Up at MSNBC, Liberals Under Fire with Peter Hart, activism director for
Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting and Karl Frisch, director of communications, for
Media Matters. Wrapping up the program more speculation about yet another stadium
for Oakland.

10:00 AM - Wasteland of the Free - Now that all the unpleasantness of the Republican
National Convention is finally over, host Rick Flores attempts to forget about the
GOP or at least poke fun at it for a couple of hours. Oh yes, you'll hear from a
Palin . . . but Michael not Sarah, as we feature recordings, both spoken and
musical, with a sense of humor. And a tribute to Larry Harmon, a real Bozo.

8:00 pm -Saroyan Radio Project -The Saroyan Radio series continues on September 9
with Saroyan in Hollywood.  A fascinating two-hour interview with Hank Saroyan by
Nuria Ibars, originally broadcast in 2005.  Hank is William Saroyan's nephew and a
long-time writer and producer in film and television.  They had a close  family and
working relationship with the great writer and talks intimately about Uncle Bill's
life and work.  The program includes segments of spoken word recordings of Bill
reading from his work.  Series producer Vic Bedoian.

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm -   Earthbeat--The Best of World Music
Annie Compton-Schmidt is back from Summer travels to the United Kingdom
and will focus her program "Earthbeat" on music from the land of the
Celts - England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.  She has recently received
some new air-play additions to world beat music including the popular
group, Capercaillie...and more.  Thanks to Rick Flores for filling in
while on vacation this Summer. She will be glad to be back at the board
the second Saturday night of this month.  Join her for some up-beat world
rhythms.

9:00 pm to 11:00 pm -- "jazz with jim"... jim compton-schmidt on his "classics in
jazz" program will be clearing out the "in box" of music received this summer that
he was not able to play 'cause he was off having fun.! He is soooo glad to be back
and to be back on the air.  jim sends out a big thanks to rick flores for covering
his program in both july and august. There have been a number of new artists in the
jazz field who have stepped forward and taken on the challenges of the popular music
field of the 1930's thru the 1950's...jim will be playing out of those recently
received offerings. Please tune in and plan to roll back the rug to "dance to the
bands".

8:00 PM - Saroyan Radio Project- Ed Hagopian, one of Saroyan's closest friends,
first in Paris, then in Fresno,. In this fascinating portrait he recalls Saroyan the
friend, writer, Paris bon-vivant, luminary, and the character as few else could. 

Friday September 19, 2008 
3:00 PM - Down On The Farm - Tom will be interviewing and grilling steaks on air
with Seth Nitschke of Open Space Meats in Mariposa. Seth's grass fed beef was the
star of this spring's Home on the Range event sponsored by Slow Food Madera. Tune in
and learn how delicious local pastured beef can be good for your health and our San
Joaquin Valley's environment.
