Khan, son of Ali Akbar Khan will perform live from the KPFA studio at 11AM with
Javad Bhuta on tabla.

1:00 pm Women's Magazine
Ism's: Racism, Sexism, Heterosexism and Looksism.
Kate Raphael presents perspectives from the New Jersey 4 on their incredibly long
sentences and successful appeals, while Veronica Faisant interviews editor/musician
Sabrina Cahpadjiev and writer/fat activist Stephanie Howell about the book, Live
Through This: On Creativity and Self-Destruction.

3:00 pm Cover to Cover with Denny Smithson
Nancy Ellis-Bell “The Parrot Who Thought She Was a Dog.” A one-legged macaw named
Peg-Leg, soon renamed Sarah, takes over the lives of author Ellis-Bell and her
husband, slowly transforming their house into a bird cage. Listen and laugh about
the ups and downs and ups as this cast of characters learns to live together.

8:00 PM Valley Black Talk
Mel Sanders and Kimberley Jackson discuss the latest in Local and National Politics.

Host Rick Flores with music, interviews and  the Thrift Store Record of The Week.
Interview with Randy Sharp and Jack Wesley Routh about the songwriting process.
Randy, a valley native, has written dozens of major country hit songs. Jack Wesley
Routh has played with Johnny Cash and co-penned the Grammy winning "The Connection"
with Randy for Emmy Lou Harris.

2:30 PM Ideas on The Edge
Host Mike Beevers with author Michael Mann. Mann co-wrote "Dire Predictions:
Understanding Global Warming." The book examines the findings of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

3:00 PM Down in The Valley
Host Lloyd Carter. interviews Susana De Anda, co-executive director of the Community
Water Center in Visalia and an expert on drinking water problems in rural
communities in the southern San Joaquin Valley. He'll also be talking briefly about
the governor's latest $9.3 billion water bond proposal. examines local and state
water issues.

5:00 PM Sierra Nevada Earth First Radio
Marc Somma and Mike Becker host. They will be focusing again on the  I-69, The NAFTA
superhighway project, the first phase of which is in southern Indiana. They will  be
interviewing two earth first! activists who have been opposing this project.

7:00 PM Move On Up
Devoya Mayo hosts. Four Chicano MCs/ Hip-Hop Musicians: GIANT, JACINTO,BIG DAN,
SOMOS. They’re currently recording and building their fan base out of the Bay Area.
However, they represent various generations, diverse experiences and parts of
California , from San Diego , Salinas to Oakland . They have an unheard, yet world
wide sound and have been featured at local hip-hop clubs, live radio freestyle
sessions, festivals, community rallies and local open mic’s. They’ve performed
alongside many artists, including Clyde Carson, Zion I, Deuce Eclipse, Goapele,
Native Gunz, Common Market, Blue Scholars, Rico Pabon, FrontLine , Los Rakas, Ise
Lyfe, One Struggle, Fuga and many other well established Bay Area artists. With
their 2008 debut Album BRWN BFLO, “potential to national exposure and success will
come”, says Big Dan. “Our spanglish and world wide music influence will shake this
entire music business”, says Giant.

7 PM - 1968 Revolution Rewind Special
Rick Flores is filling in for Jim and Annie and will be looking back at 1968 with a
Pacifica Archives special "1968- Revolution Rewind" which  showcases the powerful
artistic contributions made within this year of turmoil: the sounds of Bob Dylan,
Alan Ginsberg, Melina Mercouri, Sun Ra, Phil Ochs, Abbie Hoffman, James Baldwin,
Langston Hughes, and others. Followed by three hours of the music of the era.
