    On Sunday, April 24th at 6:30 PM KFCF (88.1 MHz in Fresno) will air 
a special program on the Armenian Genocide. *Armenia: The 20th Century's 
First Genocide*
Araxie Barsmain, a survivor, shares her story with Students from the 
University of Colorado about the20th century's first genocide. In 1915 
the Armenian people were targeted by the Turks for extermination, who 
proceeded to kill thousands and forced the rest to flee their homeland 
in Turkey.
    Following at 7 PM will be a program celebrating the life and works 
of William Saroyan.  Host Nuria Ibars will interview HankSaroyan, the 
writer's nephew who worked with his uncle in the last 10 yearsof his 
life. The program will include voice excerpts of William Saroyanreading 
from his work. The program will air from 7 to 9 PM.
    On Monday April 25th at 1:00 PM KFCF and  Pacifica Radio  will be 
broadcasting a commemorative program about the Armenian Genocide -  the 
first genocide of the 20th Century. This was the event from where the 
term "genocide" was originated.  That massacre also marked the first 
human rights movement in the United States, according to Peter Balakian, 
author of "Black Dog of  Fate" and "The Burning Tigris."

Balakian is one of the guests on the Genocide Remembered special .  
Other guests will include:

Survivor Sam Kadorian, at seven years old, was at the bottom of a pile  
of young boys who were speared to death by the Turkish Gendarmes.
Kadorian survived by faking his death.   Kadorian is 96 years old now.

Ben Bagdikian, award winning journalist,author of many books including 
"Media Monopoly" and former dean of the Graduate School of Journalism at
University of California Berkeley.  Bagdikian was born in Armenia at the 
time of the genocide.  Much of his work was shaped by this event.

Serj Tankian, lead singer and founding member of multiplatinum rock 
band  System of a Down. Tankian also co-founded Axis of Justice, a
nonprofit organization linking rock fans to humanitarian organizations.
