Attention KFCF Friends - Special Events This Weekend

Friday September 12 at Club Fred

Join us at Club Fred for an evening of music with two great singer-songwriters;  David Gans, host of  the "Dead to the World" program on KFCF, with a creative blend of original songs and covers, and local favorite Brad "Dudeboy" Rogers with his unique brand of alternative country music.  The fun begins at 8 pm.  Tickets are $8 in advance, available from The Movies video shop located at 1435 N. Van Ness.   Tickets at the door are $10.  Club Fred is located at 1426 N. Van Ness in Fresno.

Saturday September 13 - 8 to 10 am on KFCF 88.1 FM

KFCF will rebroadcast a special program on the history of the origins the Fresno Free College Foundation.  This fascinating look at local history was produced by longtime activist Ellie Bluestein and originally aired two weeks ago.  The program includes interviews with some of the original members of the FFCF who were professors at Fresno State University in 1968 and fought for free speech and academic freedom.  The Foundation is the parent organization to Free Speech Radio KFCF.

Saturday September 13 - FFC F Annual Banquet 

The FFCF is celebrating 35 years of community service at the Downtown Club on Saturday evening.  Tickets are still available for dinner at $37.50 per person.  We now have a special offer for those who want to be there for there for the program but not the dinner.  For $10 you can enjoy a rewarding evening program which includes an update by KPFA manager Gus Newport, and a slide/lecture presentation by UC Professor Gray Brechin entitled "Rotten Foundations:  The Bureau of Reclamation and the Urbanization of the American West".  It's an informative and fascinating look at Valley history.   We will also be bestowing our annual Free Speech Awards to local activists Sudarshan Kapoor and Howard Watkins, and to the founding board members of the FFCF.  Those interested in reserving dinner should call the Foundation office at 559-233-2221 for menu choices.  People interested in attending the program only may obtain tickets at the door the night of the event.  There will be a social mixer at 5:30 pm, with dinner served at 7 pm and the evening program at 8 pm.
